Travel Details

Flying direct to Merida International Airport (MID) is the easiest and most direct way to travel. There are daily flights directly into Merida from Houston (Delta), Mexico City (Aero Mexico), Miami (AA), and weekly from Toronto (WestJet). Fishing Program

The fly fishing program at Tarpon Coast Lodge is based around the tides and may consist of fishing a full day on the flats or fishing a split day. Split days find you fishing at 6:00am on the Oceanside flats, returning late morning for a siesta and lunch, and then heading back out in the late afternoon to fish the nearby creeks until dark.

Fly fishing is done with floating lines matched with 8 or 9 weight fly rods. Sparsely dressed and surface type flies are your go-to patterns. The guides at Tarpon Coast Lodge were all born and raised on Isla Arena. The fly fishing guides know the area intimately and the tarpon's many routines.

Fishing is done from traditional Mexican pangas. The pangas have an ample casting deck and dry storage
